“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone” (Hebrews 12:14). That’s hard to do, isn’t it?
Conflict is a normal part of life, yet we often avoid them or we don’t know how to handle them. Whether the struggle is with family, friends, or co-workers, the Lord has a lot to say about conflict and finding resolution.
- Pray about the situation and the people involved. Ask God for wisdom in resolving the issue. Search God’s Word for any passages that would speak to your specific conflict.
- Communicate with openness, honesty, and understanding.
- Meet somewhere that you can talk without distractions. Listen without interrupting. Ask clarifying questions so that you understand the other person.
- Avoid arguing and accusations. Respond to what is important.
- Recognize differences and be willing to work through them.
- Be honest about your thoughts and feelings.
- Forgive the other person for any wrongdoing and apologize if you have done anything wrong.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
(Romans 12:18)
