Ariana is struggling with her faith, feeling torn by her obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which is affecting her family, especially her children and husband. Her secular counselors don’t understand her struggles, and her biblical counselor’s advice to “trust God” feels unhelpful. Ariana is consumed by doubts about whether she is practicing her faith correctly, and the advice she’s received to simply “stop thinking about it” isn’t working. In a conversation with June, Ariana expresses concerns about how to share Christ with her children when she is unsure of her own salvation. June discusses Ariana’s perfectionism, the impact of past abuse on her view of God, and addresses her question about why God would allow her mental illness if He loves her. June explains the concept of God’s agape love to help Ariana move forward. |
