Dr. Bob Reccord Speaks to Thousands at Georgia’s Men’s Conference
February 3, 2015 – Plano, Texas.
Dr. Bob Reccord, President and CEO of Hope For The Heart, recently spoke at the 23rd Annual Johnny Hunt Men’s Conference in Woodstock, Georgia. This year’s theme focused on “Win from Within – Feel the Force of Forgiveness.” No matter what kind of losing (or winning) streak men might find themselves in, the annual conference is designed to tackle straight-up the issues that keep men from the goal line. And the solution starts with God’s forgiveness and a man’s surrender.
Focusing his message on Man Up … and Step Out, Dr. Reccord unpacked the truth of living a life that is fully surrendered to Christ and what the difference is between “commitment” and surrender. “God is looking for men who will step up and stand out as leaders at home, work and in life,” shares Reccord. “Yet many men are not successfully standing in the gap to make an impact with their life. They have settled for a kind of commitment that leaves them in control, while God is looking for surrender … where there is nothing left for a man to try to control.”
Throughout his teaching, Reccord encouraged men to better understand and embrace four key areas of truth: the Basis of Surrender, the Character of Surrender, the Demands of Surrender and the Results of Surrender. “Since little boys, we were taught that the word surrender meant we lost … we gave up. So for many of us, the word implies that we’re not in control. It doesn’t put us in a position of strength. Our human nature hates that thought. But what’s ironic about surrender is that in Christ, surrender results in victory and liberation, not defeat,” adds Reccord.
This year’s Men’s Conference not only touched the lives of the 5,500 men who attended in Georgia, but thanks to LifeWay Christian Resources, more than 30,000 viewers, representing 161 cities, 27 states and 5 countries, participated in the conferences via live simulcast.
