When we look at the world today, it doesn’t seem like there are a lot of reasons to have hope. But when we look to God’s Word, we have plenty of reasons to live each day full of hope.
The Bible is filled with many great promises and truths to encourage you each day. Some of them are listed below. You can add your own favorite passages, write them down on an index card, print them off, memorize them, or take a screen shot and keep them on your phone as a constant reminder of God’s love for you and the hope you have in Christ.
“Your word is my source of hope.”
(Psalm 119:114 NLT)
12 Reasons to Have Hope Found in God’s Word
God loves you – He always has and always will.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
(Jeremiah 31:3)
God has grace and compassion for you.
“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
(Psalm 145:8–9)
God is always with you.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10)
God created you purposefully.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
(Psalm 139:13–14)
God sees you as His precious child.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
(1 John 3:1)
God understands your pain.
“He [Jesus] was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.”
(Isaiah 53:3)
God has a plan for you.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
(Jeremiah 29:11)
God can completely redeem any situation.
“Praise the Lord, my soul . . . who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion”
(Psalm 103:1, 4)
God extends complete forgiveness.
“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.”
(Psalm 86:5 NLT)
God chose you to be adopted into His family.
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
(Ephesians 1:4–5 NLT)
God comforts you and can comfort others through you.
“The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort . . . comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
(2 Corinthians 1:3–4)
God listens to your prayers and can help you.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
(Hebrews 4:16)
Living with Hope
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
(Isaiah 40:30–31)
